“Peace-cook” Jalil

For about twenty years now, the former lecturer of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Mathematics Jalil Schwarz, has been engaged on honorary basis in cooking for several social events, like weddings, communal and school festivities as well as for ecclesiastical events, among others the first Ecumenical Day in Berlin in 2003.

The bigger the event, the better - as the aim of the „peace-cook“ is to collect money for projects that will help to make come true and encourage the coming together of people of different cultures and religions. For his efforts, Jalil Schwarz was awarded with the „Bundesverdienstkreuz“, a high German governmental decoration, on 6th February, 2001.

Thanks to his financial support, a community centre for the Christian congregation in Ramle/Israel could be completed, as well as a high school for 280 Christian and 180 Muslim pupils.
