That peace be with you
“Shalom” – a Jewish mother is greeting her neighbour, an Arab woman who is answering her with “Salam Aleikum”. The two women chat a little
about their children who they’ve just accompanied to the interreligious kindergarten and who have already started playing with each other. “That peace be with you” – a dream!
That this dream and this “salute of peace” can furthermore and quite naturally be shared among Jewish and Arab people is the overall aim of the
“Abrahamszelt” -organisation and especially the wish of the “peace-cook” Jalil Schwarz, the chairman of the organisation and a Palestinian by birth. In his hometown, Ramle (near Jaffa), Jalil Schwarz and his
organisation are planning to build and create a kindergarten for children of Jewish, Christian and Muslim religion, so that these children will be given the chance of growing up and learning to live together
peacefully. By this, they will also learn to accept and tolerate one another.
So is the hope, that a ray of peace shall switch from the children to their parents and that, finally, a generation will grow up ready for
appeasement and for sharing a life in peace.
It will no doubt be an important step towards and a contribution for the future of the Holy Land!
