Building bridges
Peacekeeping in the Holy Land – many are hoping and praying for real peace between Israelis and Palestinians! But still, many more bridges of
understanding are to be built. For distrust is reaching deep, on both sides.
This is where the concept of the planned kindergarten/nursery school is starting up – a concept whose aim is to create a place for children of
Jewish, Christian and Muslim religion and belief living together peacefully. The building is also seen as a cultural centre and meeting point and place for festivities, theatre plays, concerts, lectures and courses
in further education, so that grown-ups, too, will be able to take share in this important peace-process.
Up to now, Jalil Schwarz managed to raise half of the sum needed by means of private and church donations, through offerings and the yields of his
cooking actions.
In order to reach this aim of an interreligious kindergarten more rapidly, the organisation with the name of “Abrahamszelt – Friends and Sponsors of
the interreligious kindergarten in Israel” (Abraham’s tent) was founded 1st April, 2003.
